Jon Todd Collins is a visual storyteller. A classically trained pianist, Jon gravitated toward filmmaking in college creating multi-media performance art pieces, which incorporated live music with experimental video. Recognized for his unique style, Jon quickly segued to music videos. In the past few years Jon has helmed numerous award-winning music videos for Texas performers. He recently directed “Clementine” for breakout star, Sarah Jaffe and was asked to direct her live concert film at the Wyly Theatre in Dallas.
Jon found that his strong visual sensibility worked well with corporate branding and commercials and has been busy in both arenas. Jon has stated that, “Successful productions are ones that can convey tangible emotion to the audience. There is no reason a small budget production shouldn’t be every bit as affective as those with larger budgets.”
Jon’s recent work has included his first Feature Film. Acting as Director of Photography, “In The Land of Fireworks” was shot over a month’s time in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Since fall of 2010, he has been traveling the country working on “Celebrate Texas 175”, a collection of inspirational and iconic stories about the people and places that make Texas great. The stories are hosted by native Texas celebrities, like Owen Wilson, Bill Paxton, Nolan Ryan, and former First Lady Laura Bush. The series celebrates the 175th birthday of Texas in 2011 and will begin airing across the state beginning Spring 2011.
